Bago is very easy to reach by train from the Yangon train station. The train ride was good but very slow and bumpy; I never took a train that was that shaky!
Very few tourist visit Bago, most of the travellers are on day trips or on their way to the golden Rock.
Here was when I felt I would fall in love with Burma, hard to put in words but I arrived at San Francisco Motel and I was welcomed by the owner, and smiley lady with her cute dog, sweet niece and very friendly and staff. The guest house is on the main road, it is simple, very clean and the owner helped me organize a tour on a motorbike to the temples.
It is true that you can visit the main tourist attraction in an afternoon but I felt so good here that I decided to stick around. The next 2 days I spent my days riding a bicycle around the villages for the amazement of the locals who rarely see and foreigner specially riding a bike on some time very chaotic traffic where seems there is no rule. (Some how it works and I, with my driving skills, felt at home in that sense :-)).
I visited a cigar factory and had a great time talking with all the young ladies who work there. Verbal communication can be hard in Burma as very few people speak a bit of English but we communicate in so many ways that it doesn’t spoil the moments. It interesting how we forget to use that ability that we all have to interact with other beings just by a smile, gestures and simple feeling their energy, sometime the silence says a lot. I was amazed that I went to this cigar factory to take some photos and I ended up stay for few hours, took some photos, learned (or tried) to roll a cigar, chatted with most of the girls and they were so kind and insisted to shared their lunch with me, all that with very few words in a common language. I left with a big smile on my face and the heart full of love. Yeap, I am in love with Burma, and that is just the beginning :-).
I visited the local monastery and the skating ring full of cool kids, had coffee and snacks at the local market and I was invited for dinner with the staff of San Francisco Motel.
Next stop is Kalaw, right in the middle of Burma. The owner of the travel agency who sold me the bust ticked warned me that it will be very cold in Kalaw. I didn’t believe because it has been very hot since I arrive in Asia, during the day it is never less than 30 degree and it is theirs cool season and it is not rare to see people wearing jumpers. Imagine how it would be in the hot season!

Bago – Burma – Comeco a Me Apaixonar
É muito fácil de chegar em Bago de trem apartir da estação central de Yangon . A viagem de trem durou somente 2 horas e foi interessante ver como a populacao local viaja, o trem eh muito lento, chaqualha como se estivesse saindo dos trilhos e os passageiros com olhos curiosos que voce nem precisa perguntar mas ja sabe o que estao pensando. O que essa turista esta fazendo nesse trem sozinha e para onde esta indo e porque?
Muito poucos turistas visitam Bago , a maioria dos viajantes passam o dia ou estão a caminho para a Golden Rock.
Aqui foi quando eu senti que iria me apaixonar com a Birmânia , difícil de colocar em palavras, mas cheguei a San Francisco Motel e fui recebida pela proprietária, uma senhora sorridente com seu cachorrinho fofo, sua linda sobrinha e seus super simpáticos funcionarios. A pousada fica na rua principal , é simples , muito limpa e a proprietária me ajudou a organizar um passeio para os templos em uma moto .
É verdade que você pode visitar as principais atraçoes turísticas em uma tarde , mas eu me senti tão bem aqui que decidi ficar por mais tempo. Passei os próximos dois dias andando de bicicleta ao redor das vilas para o espanto dos habitantes locais que raramente veêm e estrangeiros especialmente numa bicicleta em por vezes no tráfego muito caótico , onde parece que não há regras. ( De alguma nameira tudo funciona e eu , com as minhas habilidades de condução , me senti em casa nesse sentido :-)) .
Eu visitei uma fábrica de charutos e me diverti conversando com todas as moças que trabalham lá . A comunicação verbal pode ser difícil na Birmânia como muito poucas pessoas falam um pouco de Inglês, mas nos comunicamos de tantas maneiras que não estragar os momentos . É interessante como nos esquecemos de usar essa capacidade que todos temos de interagir com outros seres apenas por um sorriso , gestos ou simplesment sentindo a sua energia , algumas vezesum momento de silêncio diz muito. Fiquei surpresa pois fui a esta fábrica de charutos para tirar algumas fotos e acabei ficando por algumas horas, tirei algumas fotos , aprendi (ou tentei ) enrolar um charuto, conversei com a maioria das meninas e elea foram tão gentis e insistiram em compartilhar seu almoço comigo, tudo isso com muito poucas palavras em uma lingua em comum. Saí com um grande sorriso no rosto e o coração cheio de amor . Pois é , me apaixonei pela Birmânia, e isso é apenas o começo :-).
Eu visitei o mosteiro local e o ringue de patinacao cheio de adolescentes descolados, tomei cafe com tira gostos no mercado local e fui convidada para jantar com o pessoal do São Francisco Motel.
